Our Story

At Quinta da Castelhana we exchanged our busy life in the Netherlands for a slower, more meaningful life on a small fruit farm in central Portugal.
Here we welcome guests to our little B&B, where weekends are all about slowing down, eating well and reconnecting with nature.

Who We Are

We are Natascha and Tim, a Dutch couple living on a natural fruit farm just outside the village of Caria.
Tim also works in a local pizzeria, where his love for simple, honest food comes back in every pizza he makes.
At home on the quinta, our days are spent tending the land, baking sourdough bread, and creating a quiet place for guests to unwind.

Our Quinta & Fruit Farm

Our Quinta & Fruit Farm

On our one-hectare quinta we grow strawberries and, in the coming years, cherries as well. In season you can taste them fresh at breakfast, straight from the garden, alongside homemade sourdough and other local, seasonal ingredients.

We also care for a small olive grove and several beehives. From these we produce our own olive oil and honey, as well as small-batch products made from beeswax, such as creams, soaps and candles. When available, guests can taste or purchase these products and get a feel for daily life on a working Portuguese farm.

Our Way of Living

Moving to Portugal inspired us to live more simply and consciously: eating mostly plants, cooking from scratch and following the rhythm of the seasons.
We believe that real rest comes from small things – time outside, honest food, silence and starry nights away from mass tourism.

Part of this way of living is doing more for ourselves: growing food, making our own olive oil and honey, and using what the land gives us in simple, natural ways. It is this rhythm we love to share with our guests.

We Look Forward to Meeting You

We hope Quinta da Castelhana feels like a calm, welcoming place where you can breathe out, sleep deeply and leave a little more rested than you arrived.
